Well done Noel! You are a true biker!
Cycling 300km all the way from Messina to Pozzallo is no easy feat for anyone, but when you have a disability which impedes the use of your legs, then this is just incredible.
In fact, Noel managed to complete this gruelling journey on a handcycle, a tricycle powered by just one’s arms. This takes amazing strength and will power, not least for the fact that hand muscles are significantly shorter than corresponding leg muscles and are not designed for such endurance.

The idea to handcycle across Sicily was proposed by his friend and coach Sergio Sciberras, who has been actively involved in Noel’s training for the past 8 months. Sergio, together with his 11-year old daughter, accompanied Noel throughout the journey. Sergio, who is not new to cycling abroad, described this experience as one of the most fulfilling of his life.
Noel took on this challenge to raise funds and show gratitude to Inspire - the charity which has helped him over the past few years. He has shown what truly amazing things people with disabilities are able to accomplish and as a fellow biker he has won our utmost respect and admiration.
If you have not done so already you are still in time to donate. Funds collected through the website will go toward a new children’s handcycle which Noel and Sergio will be buying for Inspire.
